Greg Ryan qualified as a solicitor in 1999, training under the now Judge of the Court of Appeal, Michael Peart and set up Greg Ryan Solicitors in 2001, where he continues to practice from Upper Mount Street, Dublin 2.
Greg holds a Bachelor in Civil Law (Honours) from UCD and also the following Diplomas:
- Diploma in Arbitration;
- Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration;
- Diploma in Applied EU Law;
- Diploma in Property Tax;
- Diploma in e-Commerce;
- Diploma in Commercial law;
- Diploma in Corporate Governance;
- Diploma in Leadership and Strategic Management.
He is the immediate past President of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, having previously served as Treasurer, Secretary and vice President. He is also a former Chair of both the DSBA Technology Committee and a former Chair of the Law Society Technology Committee, and continues to serve on that committee. He is also a former chair of the DSBA Business Law Committee.
He is a former member of the Guidance & Ethics Committee and also sat on both the Complaints & Client Relations Committee, and the EU & International Affairs Committee.
He has lectured extensively in Cyber Security and Data Protection. Greg writes for both the Law Society Gazette and the DSBA Parchment magazines. He is the technology correspondent to the Parchment, writing on technology law and practical technology tips to solicitors.
Greg is the Law Society nominee on technology matters to the Conseil des Barreaux Européens (CCBE) which is the voice of the European legal profession representing, through its members, more than 1 million European lawyers. CCBE membership includes the bars and law societies of 45 countries from the European Union, the European Economic Area, and wider Europe, consisting of 32 full, three associate, and ten observer member countries. In addition to representation, the CCBE advises the European Commission on forthcoming legislation and meets monthly in Brussels.
In his spare time Greg enjoys reading, running and cooking. His passion is Leinster rugby being a diehard lifelong fan. Bleed Blue!
