Further to our blog post yesterday, I thought I’d introduce you to Jack Tchrakian, one of the highly qualified barristers with whom we work closely
Profile: Jack Tchrakian BL
After completing his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree in Trinity College, Dublin in 2003, Jack qualified as a solicitor and practised at some of Ireland’s largest commercial law firms, including McCann FitzGerald, where he trained, and Maples and Calder. As a solicitor, his practice primarily focussed around finance, with a particular specialisation in restructuring, lending transactions and regulatory work. He was involved in some of the country’s biggest post-crash restructurings, including, most notably, advising a consortium of lenders to the Quinn Group on the latter’s workout.
After six years as a solicitor, Jack decided to take his previous experience in a new direction, being called to the bar in 2013 and has been practising on the Dublin Circuit ever since. A versatile commercial barrister, Jack has a mixed civil and chancery practice with core competencies in banking and insurance law but also taking in everything from personal injury claims to media law to professional negligence.
Jack has published extensively in relation to legal matters, has taught on the International Financial Services Law Module of the LL.M course at Griffith College, Dublin and is a proud contributor to the CPD Philanthropy network of practitioners who provide Continuing Professional Development talks to practitioners with the profits being devoted to charitable causes. Outside the Courts, Jack is an avid reader and political blogger whose work has occasionally been published and cited in the national media and what little time he has to himself, enjoys hiking in the mountains of South Dublin and Wicklow.
